Two emails received this morning from two leading Thesis skins designers Alex from Kolakube and Hesham from ThesisAwesome. Their advice to me was that “Don’t upgrade our themes to Thesis 1.8.3 to avoid and incompatibility or so”. So, I did not upgrade yet to avoid the break of layout for my Marketer Delight 2.
Reading through Pearson of DIYThemes post about Thesis 1.8.3 this morning, we will see that there have been a lot of things added to this version that require its skin designers to follow. It is good to hear that Marketer Delight 2 that AZBlogTips is now using will be upgraded to 2.1 which is fully compatible with Thesis 1.8.3 as promised by Alex. I will proceed to upgrade then once I got MD2.1 version.
Here are some of key things I love the most from this release:
- Thesis Now Loads Faster: With smart CSS control as well as combining 3 CSS files into 2 and reducing http requests will surely make your Thesis-powered blogs load faster. I love it and eager to switch sooner.
- Upload header image like drag and drop: This will make Thesis friendlier with WordPress image drag and drop uploader feature.
- Support WP Network: Running a multi-site network on Thesis now get easier. Thesis 1.8.3 detects if you’re using WP Network, and it responds by creating /custom folders for each active blog.
- Complete support for GravityForm CSS: I love GravityForm as it helps us to create a powerful and professional contact form or other types of forms by drag and drop. Thesis 1.8.3 will help us play easily with GravityForm.
How about Thesis 2.0?
The rumors are now clearer a bit when Chris Pearson disclose its process to Thesis 2.0. The whole team has been doing very hard from 9am to 8pm to complete the Thesis 2.0. I do agree with Chris that instead of creating more rumors or feeling tired of waiting, we should be happy with Thesis 1.8.3. Let the Thesis 2.0 make another magic surprise!
Again, one thing you should know that Thesis 2.0 will possibly have new pricing scheme, of course it will be higher than current price.
