How To Be Successful In Affiliate Marketing for Newbie Bloggers

affiliate-marketing-basics

As you all know, the model of CPC, PPC or CPM is not working with newbie bloggers whose blogs or websites get little traffic everyday. The dream to earn a living with those blogs will hardly become true in the very competitive blogger community. Without a brand or less than 100 UV per day, you can not generate $100 per month. That is why I would like to say that you can forget adsense or any other PPC networks to focus on affiliate marketing.

I know that you will laugh at what I have just mentioned above and say it is only theory with low success rate. You will then think that this model only applies for those who are very famous with a high profile blogs. You might be right but it is not 100% true to me. Here are some tips to supplement my statement:

1. Choose right advertising networks to drive targeted prospects

Do you think that you can make money with a new site or even no website? You can do that by using some great advertising networks such as AdWords, Bing or Yahoo to drive targeted clients to your affiliate links and make some additional commissions. AdWords is the #1 advertising network that most of internet marketers use to double your revenue and you can do that too.

To get successful with AdWords you need to understand intensively about this network and at least you know how to choose the most profitable keywords for your targeted products to drive as many prospects as you can with lowest budget to your landing pages. This can boost your revenue immediately!

2. Taking action is the key!

Many of you have read ebooks about “how to become millionaires” from internet and I am sure that you are curious about how really it helps and the reliability of these formulas. That is why most of newbie hesitate to maximize their formulas. Most of internet marketers or newbie bloggers can not be successful as they are afraid of risks with their initial investment. Affiliate marketing should be considered a profitable business and if you don’t take actions on time, your chance to get rich will be passed to your competitors icon smile How To Be Successful In Affiliate Marketing for Newbie Bloggers

3. Make more with a targeted list!

Money is in your list! Many of you hates receiving spam emails from whom you have never interacted with. However, if you have good strategy in building your opt-in list and drive targeted prospects, you can make a lot of money with your list too.

This is very clear when most of internet marketers are now using Popup Domination or any auto-responders to interact with their subscribers.

4. Share your ultimate reviews or feedbacks about products/services

If you are worried about your readers’ concerns regarding your products or services, you should think about writing reviews about it with all advantages and disadvantages. It should be ultimate reviews, not only focusing on positive feedbacks and hiding its negative ones.

5. Provide more value-added bonus to your clients

There are many ways to give your readers a value-added bonus to encourage them order your products or services. If your readers are concerned about its price, you should provide them personal bonus like free child themes when they order Genesis framework via your link; help theme to customize or install their blog if they order hosting via your link or provide coupons as well. You can use Coupon Reveal to display coupon professionally to get more clicks and sales.

With these tutorials, I am sure that you are now confident to start with affiliate marketing. If you follow all of these guides, you will see positive results very soon.

Genesis Framework v1.6 Now Available

genesis-box

After several weeks of testing Beta version of Genesis 1.6, you can now upgrade to the official version within your WordPress admin. If you are registered with Genesis updates, you will definitely get the email notification 1 hour ago. However, the upgrade notice will not be available at Updates tab but you can do it at Appearance -> Themes.

If you are not aware of this update, I would like to share several key updates of Genesis Framework 1.6 and I am sure you will be happy to see these awesome features integrated into this version.

Footer Widgets

With Genesis 1.6, this gets SO much easier. Now, all you need is 1 line of code in the theme’s functions.php file, and a little CSS (which we’ll be happy to build into many of our themes). You can add footer widgets by folowing these steps:

Open up the Genesis sample child theme’s functions.php file and add the following code. The code should be entered at the end of the file, just before the closing ?> if there is one.

/** Add support for 3-column footer widgets **/
add_theme_support( 'genesis-footer-widgets', 3 );

If you would like to create a 4-column widgeted footer, the code would look like this:

/** Add support for 4-column footer widgets **/
add_theme_support( 'genesis-footer-widgets', 4 );

After completing those steps, the remaining is to decorate your footer widgets by placing these CSS code into style.css:

/* Footer Widgets
------------------------------------------------------------ */

#footer-widgets {
    background-color: #333;
    border-bottom: 1px solid #fff;
    clear: both;
    color: #fff;
    font-size: 12px;
    margin: 0 auto 0;
    overflow: hidden;
    padding: 10px 0 0 0;
    width: 960px;
}

#footer-widgets .wrap {
    margin: 0 auto 0;
    width: 940px;
}

#footer-widgets .widget {
    background: none;
    border: none;
    padding: 0;
}

#footer-widgets .textwidget {
    padding: 0;
}

#footer-widgets .widget_tag_cloud div div {
    padding: 0;
}

#footer-widgets h4 {
    background: none;
    border: none;
    color: #fff;
    font-size: 12px;
    font-weight: bold;
    margin: 0 0 5px;
    padding: 0;
    text-transform: uppercase;
}

#footer-widgets p {
    color: #fff;
    padding: 0 0 10px;
}

#footer-widgets a, #footer-widgets a:visited {
    color: #fff;
    text-decoration: underline;
}

#footer-widgets a:hover {
    text-decoration: none;
}

#footer-widgets ul {
    color: #fff;
    list-style-type: none;
    margin: 0 0 10px;
}

#footer-widgets ul li {
    list-style-type: square;
    margin: 0 0 0 15px;
}

#footer-widgets #wp-calendar thead,
#footer-widgets #wp-calendar td {
    background: none;
}

.footer-widgets-1 {
    float: left;
    padding: 0 20px 0 0;
    width: 300px;
}

.footer-widgets-2 {
    float: left;
    width: 300px;
}

.footer-widgets-3 {
    float: right;
    width: 300px;
}

Custom Header Image

The easiest way to customize Genesis is to utilize the custom header and custom background functions that are native to WordPress and select child themes.

With custom header, this feature can be as simple, or as rich, as you need it to be. The array you pass for it it can handle a number of arguments like text color, default header fallback, and custom callback functions for the admin and front end CSS output.

100% Custom Menu Support

As WordPress 3x is now fully supportive of custom menus and the Genesis was updated to include support of custom menus in addition to the Genesis option of list pages/list categories for your primary and secondary navigation. With Genesis v1.6, this feature is removed in relying on WordPress custom menus.

Here is the way to set up navigation with Genesis 1.6 by following these steps:

Enable Primary Navigation

Go to Genesis > Theme Settings in your WordPress dashboard, look for the Primary Navigation option and select Include Primary Navigation Menu. Here’s a screenshot to show you what to look for:

Build Your Primary Navigation Menu

Go to Appearance > Menu in your WordPress dashboard, and create your menu. Enter the name of your menu, and then you can continue by adding links (pages, categories or custom) until you are finished. Make sure you hit Save Menu when you’re done. Here’s a screenshot to show you what a typical menu looks like:

Assign Theme Location

On the same Appearance > Menu screen in your WordPress dashboard, there is an option box in the upper left hand side of the screen where you can assign theme locations. All you need to do is select which custom menu you have built for the primary (and/or) secondary navigation menus for your Genesis site. Here’s a screenshot to show you what to look for:

Reverting to the Deprecated Menu

If you would like to revert your primary or secondary navigation menus, simply unselect the menu you have entered in the theme location section of the menus screen. Keep in mind you no longer have the ability to change the deprecated menu options (Page and Category IDs, depth options, etc.)

If you are curious about Genesis 1.6, just to get it and upgrade to version 1.6 and enjoy these cool features.
