I guess if you own a website/blog especially that is hosted with WordPress, I am quite sure that you are looking for ways and means to increase your search engine rankings in order to boost your traffic and monetize it. But did you know that you need to do several things in obtaining high rankings and increase your blog traffic?
Among a lot of techniques and methods to generate traffic to your blog, there is on method that can automatically send targeted traffic to your blog but you might miss. Can you guess what it is? It is Pinging service that you might know if you are familiar with WordPress.
I am not talking about other blogging platforms, just WordPress as it can help you automatically ping your posts to many other services once it is published.
What is Ping?
Ping is a XML-RPC based push mechanism. It notifies search engines and other servers that your blog is ready with updates. Once servers get notified by ping services, they visit your blog, crawl your contents and update their database. In order to get a good stand, you need to use ping service every time you update your blog. Blogs like WordPress use an inbuilt pinging service and can notify severs automatically once you update your blog.
There are many services which are free that can help you ping in one click. However, can you do it manually whenever you have new contents published? I do not think it is a good idea as there are a lot of search engines and services that you need to inform. That is why you need to use built-in features to do this.
When you new contents are indexed by search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing or Ask…your posts will be assigned a curtain ranking in SERPs that can likely be searched by a million or even billion of inter net users. That is gold mine of your traffic.
How to set automatic pinging in WordPress?
If you are WordPress fans, you must sometimes see in your Writing mode a box that you can insert pinging services so your updates will automatically be sent to them and bring back your blog with traffic.
To do this, just login your WordPress, Choose Settings tab and click on Writing, scroll down to the end and you will se a box as below:
There is a box “Update Services” and you can put the list below and Save Changes. That is all you need to do and I am sure that your blog traffic will be boosted and your updates will quickly be indexed by these services:

It is very simple but many of new bloggers even probloggers might miss and you only need to update once, all updates of your blog will be sent to these services automatically in the future.

Anup, Blogger has an inbuilt mechanism to ping Google whenever you update. To use other service you can use Windows Live Writer (free) and add these services there. When ever you edit or publish using Live writer it’ll ping automatically. Quite Simple yet effective

Tran, Irrespective of who uses what; feature wise WP is still a richer platform than Blogger But IMO, in pure economics term i.e. ROI wise Blogger is the BEST cause it has all the basic features (+every week its adding something new) for a blog free of cost. Hosting wise also I find my blog’s uptime/speed better than most of the self-hosted blogs.
That is wise many bloggers are using blogger as they do not have to pay for hosting services but you are limited to many features. However, with wordpress, you can do what you want but blogger!
Hosting service is now very affordable and you will get a great hosting with high uptime guarantee for less than $5/month
The uptime depends on many factors that choosing a reliable and stable hosting is a MUST 
Most of high profile bloggers are using WP rather than blogger. This is a great evidence for what is better, right? I am not against blogger as I have been with it for a while but it seems not relevant to me now
Ping is exploited by some people to get more traffic. It should not be overused if you don’t want to get banned by ping services.
It only happens if you send too many pings for one update. With inbuilt feature by WordPress, your posts can only be sent once it has updates, it is always safe
Otherwise, WP nevers add this feature

MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer is cool plugin that can replace this inbuilt feature but you should remember that using same plugin with similar functions is not a good idea

hey tran, I can’t believe that there’s so many on the list. I believe some of them are feed aggregators aren’t they? It’s just that a few of them are aggregators to my knowledge.

Please, I don’t know much about, so I’m asking this question. You have listed around 57 ping services. We might find some few other as well. Will be be beneficial to include all of them in Ping Service list or there are certain services for certain type of blogs? If so how to identify which services are good to ping for what type of blogs?
All of them are pinging services and your updates will quickly indexed by search engines and other update services. I am not sure there are any other pinging services or not but it is not all

I had been using iPod touch to post comments , tweet , approve comment for the past two days .
In my state , there is a festival .. So many of relatives had come here . So now there are 5 active kids to manage. If I switch ON my PC , all the kids surround me and they shout and say ‘start the games’

in another case I have, pinging can be make commentator bomber visit in our blog. I still make plugins anti-spam, and its not work, because many spammer I have just Spammer, not link, or link in not relevant blog I have. its so terrible.
